Today the Biden administration will unveil plans, of a substantial increase to the food stamp benefits. The increase will be permanent , helping 42 million Americans buy groceries. A historic feat that is a record increase, more important one it’s one the country’s largest programs for at risk families.
The increase will be an average monthly addition of , 27 percent higher than they were before the pandemic, starting Oct. 1st, according to an administration official. That comes out to an increase of about 40 cents per meal.
The change is coming as a response to the, 15 percent increase, (pandemic plus up) right as millions of households were set to that Congress authorized at the end of last year is set to expire Sept. 30.
