Today the Common Council approved file #220374 – a resolution approving the HaRUNbee 5K Walk/Run for Healthy Birth Outcomes as part of Bronzeville Week 2022. The 11th Annual Bronzeville Week will take place August 6-13, with the HaRUNbee 5K set to kick off the week of activities at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 6.
The HaRUNbee 5K Walk/Run for Healthy Birth Outcomes, organized by the National Coalition for Healthy Black Families, was designed to raise awareness and help prevent unhealthy birth outcomes across the region, and aims to promote wellness by encouraging families to stay healthy both mentally and physically. Those interested in participating in the event as a runner, walker or volunteer can learn more and register here.
Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs is inviting community members to participate in and support this year’s 5K. “The goal of the HaRUNbee Walk/Run is to raise awareness of infant mortality, which disproportionally impacts communities of color in Milwaukee, and encourage collaboration as a means to reduce it. Step one is signing up and joining us in supporting this great cause. I hope to see many new and returning faces for this year’s event,” Alderwoman Coggs said.
This year’s event will also include a virtual option. Anytime during August 1-6, participants may complete the 5K individually, in their own neighborhoods, on self-designed routes. Go here to learn more about the HaRUNbee Walk/Run virtual option.
