MILWAUKEE, WI – Area residents of all ages are invited to join AARP Wisconsin as they launch Walk with a Doc MKE!, a free doctor-led walking program for everyone interested in taking steps for a healthier lifestyle.
The walk is open to the community. Participation is free, and walkers will enjoy a refreshing and rejuvenating walk with Dr. Chris Ford and Dr. Rima Datunarachchi who will provide support to participants and answer questions during the walk.
The event will be held on Saturday, Aug. 27, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in Dineen Park, 6901 W. Vienna Ave., Milwaukee (meet in parking lot near the basketball court).
“It’s a great way to get out, get active, and enjoy all the benefits that come from walking,” said Amber Miller, Associate State Director of Community Outreach for AARP Wisconsin. “Walk your own pace and distance. Our walking groups are a safe, fun, and free place to get some steps, learn about health, and meet new friends.”
This event will take place rain or shine, but in the event of rain, an alternate location will be provided to registrants in advance as needed. “We want to give a special thanks to the Milwaukee County Parks department for collaborating with us to provide these free walks,” Miller said.
Please pre-register for the event at www.bit.ly/WWADAARP1. Anyone with questions may email Miller at [email protected] or call 608-949-4312.
