Kids in the Kitchen, a grassroots local cooking initiative, brought some holiday cheer to community elders with their second annual ‘Cookies & Cocoa Caravan’ held at the Milwaukee College Prep’s (MCP) Lloyd Street campus. Some 30 scholars at MCP packaged cookies that Kids in the Kitchen members delivered to over 50 local seniors while building community connectedness. This years partners in this endeavor were: Coggs Kitchen LLC; A Better Living Adult Services, LLC: Baked Dreams, LLC; and D’Wonderful Creations.
Launched during the the pandemic, Kids in the Kitchen was created to encourage young people to cook, bake, and learn from family members and other members of the community.
For the past two years, children have logged onto Zoom links to learn how to make healthy recipes and foods inspired by other ethnic cuisines in their own home kitchens.
