As February ends, so does Black History Month, the celebrations are over so let’s talk about your name being added to the history books. This month we have remembered and celebrated leaders who have changed the world by taking a chance and believing in themselves when no one else did. I know some of you may have been thinking and pondering over what you can do to carry the torch. You don’t have to re-write history, just pick up the reins and begin to move.
You must also process where you are in life and who you are constantly around, because our relationships have a lot to do with our future and success. We tend to pull from our surroundings in a positive and a negative way, so always be aware of your surroundings.
You don’t have to mistreat or disown others but make a list of the positive and negative influences you have around you and move accordingly. Make sure you keep positive influences in your corner so that they can help you navigate through your growth process.
You are called for a time such as this to pursue your dreams and goals. We are still in a pandemic, but some wonderful opportunities are still out there. There are companies that need help and are willing to lower their requirements to fill positions. There are also people who were in those positions who have decided to pursue other interests or start their own businesses.
So don’t limit yourself by thinking you are not qualified, or you won’t get a chance, trust your gut and go for the gusto. Most of the inventors and business owners you read about this month dealt with racism, financial challenges and many other distractions that could have caused them to give up, but they were persistent and determined to succeed.
So, starting today don’t let the month end and forget those that went before you, reach out, reach up and believe in yourself and you will see that dreams do come true. So, leave your mark in history so we can celebrate you, I believe in you, and you will win if you don’t stop!
