MILWAUKEE – On Thursday, August 12 at 10 a.m., Milwaukee County’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Task Force will meet for the first time. Public comment is welcome and those interested in speaking to any agenda item can sign up on the County web site.
The task force will solicit public input, with a focus on outreach to underrepresented groups, and provide recommendations to the County Board of Supervisors on how to spend $183.6 million in federal funding allocated to the county as part of the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan Act. Milwaukee County received half of its allocation in May, with the other half expected in May 2022.
Allowable uses for the APRA funds include supporting the COVID-19 public health response, addressing negative economic impacts created by the pandemic, serving communities and families hardest hit by the virus and economic downturn, providing premium pay for essential workers, investing in infrastructure, and replacing county revenues lost during the pandemic.
6th District County Supervisor Shawn Rolland and former United Community Center Executive Director Ricardo Diaz will serve as co-chairs. Supervisor Rolland was designated by County Board Chairwoman Marcelia Nicholson. Diaz was designated by County Executive David Crowley.
Other task force members include Milwaukee County Director of Grants and Special Projects Ashley Adsit, 14th District County Board Supervisor and Finance Committee Chair Jason Haas, Milwaukee County Comptroller Scott Manske, and Milwaukee County Office on African American Affairs Director Jeff Roman.
