Donors will present checks totaling $45,000 during Oct. 26 press event
The MPS Drive program has received donations from two organizations that will help serve more students throughout the year.
The Auto Club Group Foundation (ACG) has donated $25,000 and Educators Credit Union has donated $20,000. These donations will help educate more students in the community on safe driving practices and rules of the road. Dr. Keith P. Posley, Superintendent of Schools, will accept the ceremonial checks on behalf of MPS during a press conference at 4:00pm on Wednesday, October 26 at Vincent High School (7501 N. Granville Road). Students and staff will be available for interviews following the announcement.
“We are very grateful to both AAA and Educators Credit Union for their generous donations,” said Lynn Greb, Director – Milwaukee Recreation. “As we know, teaching young people safe driving tactics is crucial and with these donations we will be able to accommodate another 150 students in our driver education program this year. We truly can’t thank these organizations enough.”
Since its inception in the spring of 2016, the MPS Drive program has served over 9,700 students and assisted over 75% of those students with obtaining a driving permit. The program is managed by Milwaukee Recreation.
