With families challenged to help students complete online classes at home during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, American Family Insurance has partnered with the Sherman Phoenix, The Milky Way Tech Hub and Connect Business Consulting to offer families the opportunity to receive a FREE computer as part of a new online curriculum program.
Alderman Khalif J. Rainey said the STEAM & DREAM online curriculum for elementary and middle school students will touch on topics that will equip students with a foundation to launch their STEAM (science-technology-engineering-arts-math) journey. Topics in the curriculum cover learning how computers understand users, computational thinking, design thinking, app development and more.
“The state’s Safer at Home order has transformed many parents into teachers overnight, and it has been a challenge for many because there are not enough computers and laptops available. I encourage families to go online today and complete the required form for this timely and dynamic initiative,” Alderman Rainey said. “The deadline for entries is tomorrow – Saturday, May 2.”
Please go to https://bit.ly/STEAMOnline and complete the form (one form per child) to receive information regarding the FREE Online program and information/registration details regarding the opportunity for a complimentary computer. The online curriculum and opportunity to receive a free laptop will only be available to those that register using the link.
NOTE: Computer supplies are limited and for those selected, only one complimentary computer per household.
