Super Bowl LVII was yesterday, and the game was outstanding, but we all know who the real MVP is and that is the snacks. Every game day you must have snacks, and if there isn’t any food, I am not staying. Snacks are not just for game day, but for any social gatherings like birthdays, showers, housewarmings or just a movie night at home.
Growing up we had a party for everything and everyone in the neighborhood was welcome. My mother was a great cook, and I am her daughter so, you know, lol. I love hosting parties and preparing the food is the best part, it’s like giving my guests a gift.
Most parties you do not have to cook a full meal because snacks can be filling as well, so make sure to make a variety of them, and include a couple of beverages too. Make sure to make some savory snacks and some sweet ones also. Here are some of my favorite easy snacks.
Chili dip: brown 1 pound of ground beef and a whole diced onion and add salt and pepper. Drain and add a 8oz pack of cream cheese, a can of tomato paste, ½ cup of water (more or less for desired consistency) and a pack of chili seasoning. Stir well and cook until bubbly and serv warm with Doritos for dipping. Serves 4-6.
Party Popcorn: pop 3-4 bags of butter flavored microwave popcorn and pour in a large bowl and add peanuts, M&M’s, and pretzel sticks. Mix and set aside. Melt a container of vanilla flavored cake icing in the microwave and drizzle over popcorn mixture, pour on a cookie sheet and let cool. Serve in individual cups. Serves 6.
Guacamole: to a bowl add 2 peeled and cored avocados, diced jalapeno, diced red onion, sea salt, crushed red pepper flakes, and garlic powder. Smash all ingredients in the bowl and squeeze the juice of 1 lime in the filling, mix and serve with regular or blue tortilla chips. Serves 1 or 2.
These easy snacks can be changed to fit your taste buds and measuring is not necessary, so feel free to experiment. Since guacamole is my favorite snack, I added a step-by-step video for you to enjoy. Happy snacking!
