The world seems to be so “new” right now. It’s like we, as people, are in a place we have never been before. Between COVID-19 and life right now, it seems we all can use an extra piece of love right now.
I went to a restaurant with a friend the other day and for some reason everything felt divine. Although we had a great time and the food was amazing, the service was incredible but we could tell something was bothering our waiter. His loving energy filled the room, but as we had small talk, he began to open up about his personal life.
He told us a story about recently moving back from Florida to help his family and the sacrifices he’s forced to make currently for a great cause. He began to cry because he felt no one here cared for him. The gentleman explained that he felt alone.
After listening to his story and giving him some verbal comfort, my friend and I gave him hugs. As we hugged him, he held back his tears but was extremely appreciative. We felt great about allowing him to be open with us because it seemed it could have been a battle for life itself.
I personally found so much joy in letting him talk to us a little longer than normal. It seemed to be well needed.
You never know what people are going through so that’s why it’s important to perform random acts of kindness. Not everyone you meet will need a hug and a conversation. Some may just need a smile or an extra compliment.
