A federal judge ruled in favor of a union of landlords, striking down the CDC recommended eviction order. The order has been in place since last year, allowing many who were not working to stay in their homes. As the pandemic restrictions are being lifted, many employers are looking to have workers back, but many are still not comfortable. The moratorium on eviction allowed many families to apply for the millions in rental help, so they would not be in a frenzy of debt. Upon returning to work, it would have been impossible to make up for the over due rent in such a short time. The justice department did appeal the decision , citing the need for continued relief for families , while waiting for the millions in rental help to circulate. The original date was set to end June 30th, and is still in effect if it is not extended again. There are programs with enough money to pay up to 12 months or back rent , so if you are one who is far behind there are options. I will keep this update as the story develops.
