Horror films always scared me. I went to see Halloween and I was too afraid to see the sequels. I avoided all of the really gruesome movies like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Nightmare on Elmstreet. And much to my surprise I went to see Alien which I thought was a science fiction movie but it turned into a horror flick.
Even though I’m a fraidy cat, I do see some humor in those films when the audience screams don’t go in the house; get out; and don’t go toward the creepy sounds.
I never got into the zombie movies like Night of the Living Dead and I only watched a part of Will Smith’s film Legend. But I wonder what would the characters in those films do if they had a vaccine that could prevent them from becoming zombies or vampires. Would they take it? Prior to 2020 I would have thought the answer definitely would be yes. Now I’m not sure. It seems that we are living in a surreal and nightmarish horror film in which an audience of scientists are yelling take the vaccine $&$@#!. Yet many of us are just like those hapless characters in the horror films who are unable to heed the audience’s warnings because they can’t hear them. At least the people in a horror movie have an excuse. But we have no excuse. The current President and five former Presidents have urged us to get the vaccine. The CDC has urged us to get the vaccine. Some of the biggest opponents of vaccination have gotten sick and some have died.
If there was a vaccine to prevent you from becoming a zombie or vampire, I wonder if zombies and vampires have regrets about not taking the vaccine.
Maybe the CDC should do a public service announcement for the vaccine using an actor posing as a vampire. The vampire would say don’t spend the rest of your life living in a coffin during the day only coming out at night and then returning to the coffin. Get the vaccine.
