MaskUpMKE, a partnership between health care groups, community groups and other organizations, is currently working to create and distribute 3.5 million masks to first responders and local community members.
The masks are being assembled in part with support from local volunteers, and the supplies were donated by Rebel Converting.
This week, MaskUpMKE donated 2,100 non-surgical grade masks to front-line employees in the Department of Public Works. Common Council President Cavalier Johnson appreciates the support for the community and City employees.
“MaskUpMKE has been a fantastic collaboration between organizations in different sectors all coming together to support the community,” said President Johnson. “We are all in this together, and this partnership truly embodies that mantra. I want to thank all the partners and volunteers who have contributed to this effort.”
Laura Daniels, Director of Operations for the Department of Public Works, shares the sentiment. “The health and safety of our staff is always the top priority, and the contribution from MaskUpMKE will help us maintain our safety standards,” Daniels said.
“The donation of these 2,100 masks will prove invaluable for our front-line employees who have continued to serve throughout this pandemic.”
MaskUpMKE collaborators include: United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha County, Rebel Converting LLC, the Milwaukee Bucks and Fiserv Forum, Medical College of Wisconsin, Zilber Family Foundation, Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity, and the Greater Milwaukee Foundation.
