Washington, D.C. – Black Americas turned out in record numbers to vote for President Trump in the 2020 election, thanks in no small part to intensified outreach to Black voters by the Trump campaign and other conservative groups. According to a report by NBC news, 26 percent of Black men with a high school diploma or no degree voted for Trump, while 22 percent with bachelor’s degrees and 20 percent with graduate degrees respectively also voted for Trump. More than half of Black American men who identify as conservative also voted for Trump.
“What these stories aren’t reporting is the impact of the robust outreach efforts by the Trump Campaign and other conservative groups to reach Black voters,” said Vernon Robinson, III, co-author of “Coming Home: How Black Americans Will Re-Elect Trump.
“President Trump made historic progress with Black voters thanks to his strong economy and significant reforms like the First Step Act in 2018. But Democrats and the media should also take note that Republicans and conservatives in general were working furiously to communicate to Black voters in swing states like Iowa that it was in their best interest to reelect the President.”
Along with his colleague Bruce Eberle, Mr. Robinson wrote “Coming Home” to argue that Black voters were finally beginning to shift away from Democrats thanks to President Trump’s beneficial policies. As exit polls continue to show waning Democratic support from Black Americans, it’s clear the predictions made in “Coming Home” are more than just predictions, and it should put Democrats on notice.
