When the Mandatory mask mandate was first introduced, some were thrilled and others not so much. “If it passes I am worried about my business, I just got it open you know? “Will people still come?“ A response from a local restaurant owner, when I asked his thoughts on a then potential mask mandate.
As of Thursday at midnight, the Mayor signed the order that would require all residents wear masks in public places. Restaurants and bars/clubs were the most effected by the transition, as patrons wondered how they would eat, drink or enjoy night life with a mask on. I went to multiple restaurants and lounges, to get the overall atmosphere. While dining in, to see how people were adjusting, I seen for the most part, every one had on masks while dining, only lifting their masks while eating, obvious right? There were concerns that people would have to wear the mask the entire time, of course an impossible tasks, restaurant owners adjusted by putting more space between seating, overall not a bad experience. Later on I went to play pool and grab food at Skybox Milwaukee, which had a huge “mask only” sign as you entered through the front glass doors, luckily I had mine with me. I went around 10pm to see if the “club atmosphere” was in tact. Indeed it was as odd as it was to see, people were enjoying their night like any other, with their food, drinks ect in full mask. Truly a different times, but for those who were worried about things shutting down again, it is being reported it won’t happen in the foreseeable future, please adhere to the laws and we can enjoy these outings while we wait for the pandemic to pass.
