According to USATODAY, Milwaukee police found the child’s body in a storage bin.
“This is an ongoing investigation, this is something that is very fluid at this time,” Acting Chief Jeffrey Norman said. “My heart and my condolences go out to the family.”
Major had been missing for a week, ever since his mother, Mallery Muenzenberger, 25, was found shot to death in the backyard of a Milwaukee home Oct. 14.
Muenzenberger and her son lived in Onalaska, Wisconsin, and police said she and her son were last seen alive on Oct. 9 in Milwaukee.
Authorities initially struggled to identify Muenzenberger and notify her family, in part because she was not a local resident, but when they did make contact with relatives last Saturday, they learned her son was missing and issued an Amber Alert.
Stories like this are horrible. It’s sickening to think someone could harm and/or kill such an innocent life. It’s been said that this is a domestic violence case. And for that very reason, my heart goes out to the father, the family, and the city.
It hurts to see us treat each other like this. It hurts to know another black man lacked the tools he needed to be successful. He clearly had some sort of anger issue and not enough men around to check him or help him become better.
This story is sad beyond words. I pray our city can do a better job of being there for one another. I pray more people will check their mental health. I pray we can build a better community. One that can hold each other accountable—one that can teach and reach each other.
Something has to be done.
