Sunday I enjoyed seeing those gathered to show opposition for this past weeks unfortunate events. In what’s becoming and all to familiar story of a police involved killing, the victim was 20-year-old Daunte Wright.
Hate crimes against other groups have also been on the rise, as statistics show In America 3-4 people are murdered by police each day. There were over 3800 hate crimes against Asian Americans in 2020. At least 44 transgender people were murdered in the US in 2020.
The Party for Socialism and Liberation of Milwaukee says that, “We stand with all oppressed groups that are targeted and terrorized in this country. We must strive for more than meager reforms in order to live freely and with dignity. On Sunday they organized a March, that started at Red Arrow Park and ended at the Courthouse downtown. As they marched with signs created just prior to the walk, I was most impressed with the continued passion for change.
As the battle rages on for change be sure to check out this organization, and others for future always to support.
