Pat’s Rib Place Sauces Featured Among 2020 Oprah’s Favorite Things

Waukesha-made barbecue sauces land on annual list of this season’s holiday must-haves

Ty and Alisha Hayes operate Pat’s Rib Place and make the popular Pat’s House Sauce and Brown Brown Sauce.

WAUKESHA, Wisconsin (November 9, 2020)—Barbecue sauces from Pat’s Rib Place, a popular Milwaukee-area barbecue restaurant, are included in this year’s Oprah’s Favorite Things holiday gift list featured in the December 2020 issue of O, The Oprah Magazine and on OprahMag.com. The Oprah’s Favorite Things annual list is a must-have holiday shopping guide that features the most decadent desserts, ingenious gadgets, and finest finds in home, fashion and beauty.

Featured in 2020 is a two-jar variety pack with Pat’s House Sauce, a smoky and mild red sauce, and Brown Brown Sauce, a sweet and deep-flavored brown sugar and molasses-based sauce. Packaged in 16-ounce jars, both varieties are handmade at the family-owned Pat’s Rib Place restaurant, located at 151 E. Sunset Drive in Waukesha.

Pat’s Rib Place variety pack barbecue sauce is available for purchase on the restaurant’s online store at patsribplace.com and on the Oprah’s Favorite Things storefront on Amazon at amazon.com/oprah or on the Amazon App on iOS and Android anytime, anywhere.

As Oprah Winfrey says in the December 2020 issue of O, The Oprah Magazine: “Love a good barbecue. These two hot sauces, Brown Brown Sauce and Pat’s House Sauce, are original family recipes.”

According to restaurant owners Alisha and Ty Hayes, both varieties are extremely popular with restaurant patrons, although Pat’s House Sauce “reigns supreme.” In addition to being great with pork, beef and chicken, customers have found creative uses for the versatile sauce.

“One customer sent us a photo of a pulled pork pizza she made using Pat’s House Sauce as a base,” Alisha says. “The sauce has a great smoky flavor that goes well with everything, even as a dipping sauce.”

Made with Ty’s recipes, the sauces are all-natural and gluten-free, and contain no preservatives nor GMOs.

Alisha and Ty long dreamed of opening a barbecue restaurant to honor Alisha’s mother, Pat, and her Southern cooking skills. Named after Alisha’s mother, who passed away in 2003, Pat’s Rib Place was founded 11 years ago.

“Our goal is to keep her spirit alive with good food and good hospitality,” says Alisha.

After starting in a 1,700-square-foot space and primarily serving customers through carry-out, Pat’s Rib Place expanded in 2018 to accommodate additional demand for dine-in services. Throughout the pandemic, the restaurant’s strong customer base has allowed the Hayes to keep doors open for carryout and curbside services. Pat’s Rib Place menu features Southern-style food and five varieties of barbecue sauce.

The December 2020 issue of O, The Oprah Magazine, featuring Pat’s House Sauce and Brown Brown Sauce, hits newsstands nationwide on November 17.

Twelve lucky readers will have the chance to win every item, including Pat’s House Sauce and Brown Brown Sauce, on Oprah’s Favorite Things List in the 12-Day Give-O-way Sweepstakes (www.oprahmag.com/12days-2020), which runs from November 25 through December 6.
