WASHINGTON D.C. Black Women for Biden-Harris, a volunteer, affinity network in support of the Biden-Harris campaign, is pleased to announce they raised $82,600 for the Joe Biden Victory fund. In a joint statement, Black Women for Biden-Harris Co-Founders/Senior Advisors Dr. Stephanie Myers (DC) and Daun S. Hester (VA) said, “We are proud of the hard work of our national network in 29 states, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. We mobilized a group of volunteer women and Good Brothers, who for the past six months, worked as an affinity group with the campaign. We salute the volunteer leadership of Fundraising Chair Dr. Valda Crowder (MD) and her Co-Chair Diane Powell (PA) who raised $82,600+ a historic amount for an African-American Biden Campaign affinity group. And, every dime raised went straight to the Biden Victory Fund in expectation of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris being elected President and Vice President, of the United States of America.”
Dr. Valda Crowder, Chair, of the Black Women for Biden-Harris Fundraising Committee and Health Committee said, “Black women voters have been known to be consistent supporters who get out the vote and vote for democratic candidates that reflect our values. We are at a moral crossroads in America with the 2020 election. We concluded that it was necessary to demonstrate our ability to organize AND fundraise. I want to thank everyone who contributed. Raising over $82,000 in the midst of a pandemic that is disproportionately affecting the lives of our families and friends is a phenomenal accomplishment!”
National Co-Chairs Danyell Smith (MD) and Pat Duncan (CO) commented, “Over the past seven months, we organized teams in 29 states to register people to vote; we have resisted voter suppression and led voters to the polls. We also sponsored exciting virtual concerts and events that attracted thousands of people and encouraged them to vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.”
Other leaders of the fundraising effort were Webmaster Charlene Ligon (NE), Senior Advisor/Congressional Liaison Karen Carrington-Washington (DC) and Chaplain Barbara Reynolds (MD). The National Senior Advisors worked alongside State Liaisons in 29 States and the U.S. Virgin Islands to raise the more than $82,500 to support the Biden-Harris Victory Fund.
