The world we live in now is vastly different than it was 3 years ago. Even then the world has changed dramatically in the last 20 years. Although most things have improved, some things have taken a turn for the worse. As we get settled in 2022, we are experiencing wars, turmoil, sickness, financial and personal crises everywhere.
Fear is an emotion we all experience at some point in our lives, however living with fear daily can do more harm than good. Fear is focusing on a false imagination of how you think things will happen.
Life itself can cause you to become fearful when thinking about bills and finances, challenges taking care of the family, or being able to save for retirement. Starting a new life can be fearful as well, when making major decisions like, should I get married, should I get divorced, or is it a suitable time to start a family.
Old age or as I prefer to say, growing older will have its own set of challenges such as trying to figure out ways to get over being alone. Getting older sometimes means you will experience losing close friends and family, have health challenges, or forgiving yourself for past mistakes.
Dying is the number one cause of fear for most people and thinking about the afterlife or being afraid of leaving behind a spouse or a child. Sometimes you might even worry about your own health declining, trouble in the family or generational traumas like accidents or addictions.
Denouncing fear will make room for freedom, fun and faith, and it will change the way you think about life. A few ways I remain fearless is by remembering Romans 10:9, a promise of everlasting life. Journaling is also an effective way to change your focus, by writing down what you believe and want for your life. The purpose of journaling is, you can go back and read your writings to overcome those moments of fear.
Living a life of fear robs you from living in the moment and being grateful for the people around you that love you. It also steals your joy, hope, and peace that you will have a bright future.
Life is what you make it, and it will be what you perceive it to be. There will always be chaos and uncertainty in the world, so get used to it and embrace making YOUR world better one day at a time.
Stay fearless!
