Passing the 70 day mark this past week, the protest have been instrumental in key changes within law enforcement. Led by community activists who have been doing the work as long as 10 years or more, the peaceful demonstrations have garnered attention from various communities, and talented individuals. Artist have painted a mural to commemorate the work being done by such leaders, they are also behind various murals in the city including, one paying tribute to George Floyd.
There was a official unveiling of the mural Sunday, which featured many prominent African American leaders, some in which hold political office. The event had everything, headlined by a fashion show, attendees also enjoyed free food, poetry, music during and after the unveiling that drew a sizable crowd. “I’m happy they are getting their flowers now,” says one lady one did not mean literal flowers, but a play on the popular phrase. To give flowers now is to celebrate those while they are living, and celebrated we did we. Have a great week.
