As we all know, these times are like no other. Staying home with the kids daily has rarely been the norm in most of our communities. So for many this task is new. And it is a task in deed.
Since the kids are out of school they love to stay in play mode. While this is ideal for them it is not the best idea. Not to say this time should not be a fun time with family, because I think it should be, but I’m saying the kids have to do more than play.
As high energies of youth fill your house, have a plan. Pick days and times out of the week to teach you children. No matter how old they are, they can learn things from home. As MPS prepares to offer chrome books get involved. Find small activities throughout the day the stroke your child’s mind.
I, personally, have found that planning the days ahead helps best. Literally sitting down with my son to learn more about his current interest has helped me develop a schedule. We literally sat down to discuss topics that he would like to learn about and ones I would like for him to learn. We came up with a schedule and we’re rocking it.
We have days where we focus on reading and writing and days where we focus on creating and spiritual work. This is a wonderful time to get to know your children, personally. Especially if you haven’t had the time to. Figure out what your kid loves. What are they into? Nature? Art? Building? Knitting? Sports? Cooking? Fashion? I mean the list goes on.
Whatever that thing is, is the thing we, as parents, need to pour into it. Challenge you kids. Speak life into them. Get involved. There’s always videos and articles across the internet to help with whatever.
Whatever you do. Make the kids a priority at this time. Nothing else matters!
