On September 4th, a gathering of Healing agents tool place, as the event served as a healing space for many. Event creators have often said “our community needs to heal” but what does that mean? Trauma is all around us in our everyday lives, in fact that statement cannot have enough attention. “The Healing Gathering” was hosted by Marrika Rodgers, a Mental Health Clinician in Milwaukee who was joined by other professionals during the event.

Recap Of The Year Through The Eyes Of Many
“Peace begins with a smile,” one of many rememberable quotes from the late Mother Theresa. In a year highlighted by the pandemic that replaced summer late night summer memories, with early sleep ins on warm nights, mall visits with multiple Walmart runs. Things that entertained us were no more, instead we became all but forced to stay home, for those with families it helped to cope. However, learning to smile was the only thing getting some through it, like that single person who did not come home to family, instead learned to entertain themselves. This quote came to mind as I talked to many who like myself, not only dealt with the pandemic but multiple deaths of close relatives or friends. Smiling to help bring themselves peace, but were we just masking it? It brought me to the realization that rather we were or not, healing and restoration is needed. As we walk in to the new year, as we say hello and goodbye for the last Monday of 2020, join us in 2021 as we attempt to help with the healing process.
