Molina Healthcare Responds to Coronavirus Pandemic

Most Employees Now Remote and Additional Member Support Steps Taken

 

LONG BEACH, Calif., March 18, 2020 – Molina Healthcare (“Molina”) today announced that it has temporarily transitioned thousands of its employees to remote status. This is a precaution to prevent potential exposure to coronavirus, which causes COVID-19. The move was enacted in Washington last week and is in effect in California, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Mississippi, New Mexico, Ohio, Puerto Rico, Texas, and Utah. Additional state health plan offices will follow this week.

 

“Out of an abundance of caution and to protect the health and wellness of our staff, Molina office-based employees and contractors in various states are temporarily transitioning to remote status,” said Larry Anderson, chief human resources officer for Molina Healthcare.

 

Molina and its subsidiary health plans across 14 states and Puerto Rico are working diligently and in alignment with federal, state, and local public health authorities, regulators, and other health systems to ensure no interruption in service or care coordination to Molina’s approximately 3.3 million members, and to proactively protect its nearly 10,000 employees nationwide.

 

Molina encourages its members to remain current with their State Department of Health, County Public Health, and CDC guidelines related to COVID-19, and has taken the following steps:

 

  • Molina is providing virtual urgent care for Marketplace members through its partnership with Teladoc. Members are encouraged to take advantage of this convenient way to receive medical care without leaving their home. For information on how to access this service, members can visit the Teladoc website.

 

  • Molina is expanding Teladoc to all Molina Medicare and Medicaid members.

 

  • Molina is continuing to monitor and update all other tele-health services based on Medicaid Agency updates.

 

  • Molina is reminding members that they can receive free home delivery of prescriptions through any CVS Pharmacy, which is a convenient option for refills or new prescriptions. Members can call their local pharmacy or visit the CVS website.

 

  • Molina is covering screening tests for COVID-19, including office visits, urgent care, or ER visits associated with testing.

 

Molina is working closely with its executive task force and following guidance from the CDC and multiple departments of health to evaluate and communicate information to members, network providers, employees, and government partners as the situation evolves.

Molina Healthcare of Wisconsin Waives COVID-19 Testing Costs for Members

Last week, Molina Healthcare (“Molina”) announced it would waive costs associated with testing for the coronavirus, which causes COVID-19, for all Molina members.

 

This waiver applies to the test for coronavirus and its subsequent medical attention, including all physician, urgent care, or emergency department visits, that are directly associated with coronavirus testing. Details of the coverage policy have been shared with Molina’s provider network groups.

 

“We are diligently tracking developments concerning potential coronavirus cases in Wisconsin,” said Scott Johnson, president of Molina Healthcare of Wisconsin. Molina is committed to ensuring our members’ tests and treatments occur as quickly as possible. We have also made the appropriate preparations to safeguard Molina members, employees, providers, and partners during this time.”

 

The leadership at Molina Healthcare of Wisconsin is working closely with Molina’s executive task force, following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and the Wisconsin Department of State Health Services. The ongoing focus is to continually evaluate and communicate information to Molina members, network providers, employees, and government partners about the coronavirus situation.

 

Additionally, Molina has shared its COVID-19 Medical Policy and a Q&A document with Molina’s in-network providers to ensure alignment with the medical care Molina members receive during this time.

Milwaukee Health Services Inc. is pleased to announce its Eighth Annual Thanksgiving Dinner Giveaway, courtesy of Molina Healthcare, Devin Harris, founder of the 34 Ways to Assist Foundation, Gruber Law Offices, All of Us, Feeding America, and Walmart, on Tuesday, November 19, 2019.

 

Milwaukee Health Services Inc. (MHSI), Molina Healthcare, Devin Harris, founder of the 34 Ways to Assist Foundation, Gruber Law Offices, All of Us, Feeding America, and Walmart will jointly host a Thanksgiving Dinner Giveaway and Health Screening on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 from 2:00 pm-5:00 pm at their Martin Luther King, Jr. Heritage Health Center location at 2555 N. Dr. Martin Luther King Drive.  Thanksgiving dawns the beginning of the holidays and represents a season of giving.

“The primary objective of the Thanksgiving Dinner Giveaway and health screening is to provide both access to health care services and supply a nutritious holiday dinner,” says Pamela Clark, Corporate Communications Specialist for Milwaukee Health Services, Inc. “Community service has always been an important part of the mission of MHSI. The Thanksgiving Dinner Giveaway provides an opportunity for our employees and collaborating partners to give back to the community we serve.”

Molina Healthcare of Wisconsin Provides Free Baby Shower

Molina Healthcare of Wisconsin and Milwaukee Health Services, Inc. recently offered a free community baby shower to Milwaukee families in celebration of Mother’s Day. More than 200 moms came to the event. Parents attended educational sessions on safe sleep, infant mortality, dental care, nutrition and breast feeding. Milwaukee Health Services, Inc.’s physicians, clinicians and benefit coordinator were present to answer health and insurance related questions. The mission of Milwaukee Health Services, Inc. is to provide accessible, quality primary and related health care services to Milwaukee residents, with the continuing emphasis on medically-underserved families and individuals.

“Helping new moms improve maternal health by increasing awareness about the importance of prenatal and postnatal care is aligned with Molina’s mission of providing quality care to those in need,” shared Babette Honore, director of community engagement for Molina Healthcare of Wisconsin. “We appreciate the opportunity to partner with Milwaukee Health Services, Inc. to host this baby shower for new and expecting parents who may otherwise not have one.”

Parents in attendance enjoyed healthy foods and beverage, as well as played baby shower games to win raffle prizes. Guests also received gift bags filled with diapers, hand sanitizers, a baby bath set, baby wipes, disposable bibs, medicine spoons, outlet covers, stress balls, and water bottles courtesy of Molina.
